Recent Results
Michael Mizrachi won the $50,000 Poker Players Championship on Tuesday night. The victory is his third PPC title, previously winning the event in 2010 and 2012. In addition to taking his 4th bracelet, Mizrachi won $1,239,126, the 6th time he has won at least seven figures in a live tournament.
Also on Wednesday, Yueqi Zhu won his first WSOP bracelet and a $211,781 first place prize in the $1,500 Mixed (Event #35), after outlasting 773 entries over four days. He defeated Gabriel Ramos ($130,850) heads-up and Carol Fuchs ($89,488) in his path to victory. Although Zhu had won his first bracelet, he has finished in 2nd or 3rd six times.
Farhintaj Bonyadi won her first bracelet mid-day Wednesday in the $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em event when she defeated Robert Beach heads-up to win $311,451, becoming the first woman of the summer to win a WSOP bracelet. In winning the bracelet, Bonyadi beat 2,191 entries and overcame a huge chip deficit against Beach to take home the title.
Ongoing Action
– Event #34, the $1,000 Double Stack No Limit Hold’em began Day 4 at noon PT with 20 players remaining looking to take home the $644,224 first place prize. Keith Ferrera held the lead to begin the day. By late afternoon, 10 players were left with Joshua Turner holding the lead
– Aaron Massey held the chip lead to begin Day 3 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em (Event #37) with 20 players remaining. They picked things up again at noon PT, where a winner will be crowned by the end of the day. Aaron Massey continued to hold his lead through mid-afternoon with 10 players left.
– Yaniv Berman has the lead in the $10,000 Stud Championship (Event #38) to begin Day 3. The tournament started with 84 players but is now down to 8 and includes Ben Yu, James Obst and Jesse Martin among the more notable players remaining.
– The first day of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Shootout (Event #39) finished with 100 players remaining from 908 entries. Day 2 will see 100-man field reduced to 10 on Wednesday. They’ll return on Thursday to battle over a $236,498 first place prize. 2017 WSOP Main Event winner Scott Blumstein, Conor Drinan and Phil Hellmuth are among those seeking to make it to the final day.
– Day 2 of Event #40, the $2,500 Mixed Bet began with 51 of 205 entries left. Naoya Kihara has the chip lead with a bunch of well-known pros still alive to start the day including John Hennigan, Jeff Lisandro, John Racener and Mike Matusow still alive. John Hennigan and Shaun Deeb hold the number 1 and 2 spots through mid-afternoon with 36 players remaining.
Upcoming Excitement
– Day 1 of the $1,500 Limit Hold’em tournament (Event #41) got underway today at 11 AM. Shaun Buchwald won the 3-day event last year for $177,985.
– The $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha 8-Handed High Roller was the second new tournament kicking off on Wednesday. Beginning at 3 PM PT, the 4-day tournament was won last year by James Calderaro for nearly $1.3 million.
